About Raymond Laborde Correctional Center

Raymond Laborde opened in 1989 as Avoyelles Correctional Center and received its first imprisoned person on June 19, 1989. The DOC page says the original design capacity was 610 and later renovation and new construction increased operational capacity to 1,564. The prison was renamed from Avoyelles Correctional Center to Raymond Laborde Correctional Center in 2016.
